Giving Excuses for
Honeymoons Since 1990!
If you're
looking for a wedding officiant for your Mobile
or Gulf Shores area wedding, I may be
able to help - if you want a minister that is
laid-back, easy to work with, dependable,
helpful, flexible, unobtrusive, and who
doesn't have pre-marriage requirements, except
that you have your marriage license - then
let's talk!
My
name is Steve Durkac and I am
an ordained minister, who happens to be
Baptist, [but not the
hell-fire and brimstone kind] and
am passionate about giving couples an
excuse for a honeymoon!
My
background in ministry goes back to the 1980's
when I was invovled in itinerary
evangelism, revivial speaking, and
seminary. In 1990 I became a local church pastor
and in 2001, corporate and health care
chaplaincy, most recently with Providence
Hospital in Mobile,
Alabama.
It
was while working as a hospital chaplain that I
began to receive requests to officiate weddings
for couples coming to the beaches of Gulf
Shores, Alabama. My
phone began to ring so often, that I had to put
up a web site to help curtail the phone calls
that were interrupting my chaplain
visits!
Ceremony Formats...
I
will gladly add, change, or use your script
for your ceremony. Here are three basic formats
that I general use:
1)
Traditional
Format - not too
long, not a Baptist revival nor a Roman
Catholic mass, simple blend of spiritual
and romantic, but not an over-kill on either,
most popular.
2)
Humorous
Format - not an
entertainment event and not a comedy club
experience, but it is a celebration of humor and
laughter in marriage and
relationships.
3)
Things to
Note...
I come
to your location of choice, rather than asking
you to come to my spot on the beach, I'll
go to where it is convienant for you. Out
back of your condo, hotel, beach house, or at
any of the public access area,
is usually teh best spot, but there are some
public access areas that just as
great.
Everyone
on the beach respects a wedding and if you are
down at a busy time, you'll hear a loud
applause when the groom kisses the bride. If it
is a rainy day, which is not that often and
usually passes guickly if it does, but if it is
a rare bad rain day, there are a few public
gazebos that have done well for couples in the
past.
I
do not charge extra for adding sand cermonies,
changing the ceremony around, adding prayers,
communion, having a family member add a
reading, or whatever you wish, in
order to make your ceremony
yours.
My
own personal opinion is that a simple beach or
quick wedding can be just as
meaningful, legal, and lasting as a
big expensive church or hall wedding. Even if
you're not a religious person, getting
married by an ordained Christian minister
adds a sense of spiritualness to your marriage
foundation, that you will always be able to look
back on.
I
will also be available to you in your future if
any pastoral care or counseling needs arise in
your marriage and life, no additional cost. Many
of the couples who have givine me the honor of
officiating their wedding, have joined me on Facebook.
I
do not require pre-maritial counseling. I do not
require any specific church or faith
affiliation, nor do I care if you have been
married 6 times before, been living together for
32 years, or are soon to be the next octo-mom. I
have no objections to officiating for couples
of mixed-denominations, mixed-race, or
mixed-up minds. If
you can get an Alabama marriage license, I can
officiate.
Check My Availability...
I
would suggest surfing around and letting me if
you have any questions. You could start with
the Testimonials &
Photos page and read
what other couples have said about me
(without pay, promises, or having to
reveal the winning lottery numbers).
You can also visit the F.A.Q. page, where over the years,
I have posted answers to the most frequently
asked questions I
get.

Then, if
you want to know if I am available to officiate
your wedding, please visit Check on
my Availability to
see if I can have the honor of officiating your
ceremony on the beaches of Gulf Shores, Orange
Beach, Perdido Keys, Fort Morgan, Dauphin
Island, Mobile, Pensacola or the Mississippi
Gulf Coast.
I will respond by email and let you
know if I am available or not. If I am and you
want to book me to perform your ceremony, I will
ask you to fill-out the Book my Officiating
Services, which is how I mange my
schedule.
Also,
if I am not available on your date, I know one
or two other ministers who may be.
Thanks
for stopping by, and do let me know how I can
help!
